NEW | Talent: The Latest Atlassian Cloud Application
Talent by Atlassian Cloud is Atlassian’s latest proposal. It offers comprehensive human resources management within an organization.. It is part of the “Strategy Collection” along with Jira Align and Focus. This collection provides a comprehensive perspective on organizational strategy, combining internal data, strategic objectives, and detailed implementation reports.
Currently, Talent by Atlassian CloudCloud is available in Beta phase, and its acquisition is only possible as part of the strategic collection. It is an indispensable requirement to have at least one Jira Premium license to access this new application. We’ve already taken a first look. In this article, we share everything we’ve discovered 🤓.
Reporting Line
When we first access Talent by Atlassian Cloud, the first screen we see is the Reporting Line. Here, our user profile appears with important data such as: our title or position, who our direct manager or supervisor is, our current status in the organization, tenure in the company, etc.. For now, this data cannot be edited to add or remove information if we need to.
In the Reporting Line itself, if we click on our name, it will show us additional information about positions and responsibilities, so that we can have a global picture of how talent is distributed in our company.

These dashboards display various information. This ranges from the number of hired people and pending vacancies, to availability by area, average employee tenure, distribution by country and time zone…
You can filter these reports by position, country, or specific role.

These dashboards allow us to filter by criteria such as position, country, or specific role.
Direct reports and sub-positions
In the Direct Reports tab, you can easily visualize all the people who report directly to the logged-in user. This view allows you to clearly see the direct hierarchical structure within the organization.

Direct Reports shows all people who are dependent on the logged-in user.
The Sub-positions tab shows all those profiles that are lower in the hierarchical chain, to have a global view of all positions.
In this view, it is not only possible to filter the information to narrow down search results, but also to group the content and even configure which columns to display, with the aim of making the experience as comfortable as possible for the user, especially in environments with thousands of users.

The Sub-positions tab displays the hierarchically lower profiles for an overview.
Positions
In the Positions section, you will find a complete list of all people within the organization. This section is very useful for specific searches and quickly getting a detailed summary of any profile with just one click.

In Positions you will find a list of all the people in the organization.
From the Manage Positions option, you can get a clearer view of the different managers and the teams they are in charge of. So, you can filter by each person to better understand the roles associated with each position. Let’s say it provides a more organized view of the different positions in the company.

Manage Positions provides a clear view of managers and their teams.
Atlassian Talent Management
As this application is still in Beta phase, you will see that its administration is quite limited in terms of options at the moment. By accessing the settings wheel as usual, and selecting “Talent admin settings,” you will see the following options:
- Upload your position and worker data: Allows uploading information about positions and employees. For now, simply in CSV format.
- Upload your position to focus area allocation: Here, we can download two templates for Focus and Allocations, and then upload the corresponding allocations. Also in CSV format.
As we mentioned at the beginning, Atlassian Talent is part of the Strategy Collection, along with the Atlassian Focus app. Hence, the connection between both applications is so dynamic and close. In Focus, the strategy and project planning will be defined, while in Talent, that strategy will be linked to the appropriate profiles to achieve the objectives.
When Anu presented Talent during Team’25, she explained that she was already using it internally with her team, and that’s where the idea of launching it for everyone came from. From our point of view, in its current state (beta), it has many promising elements, although it still has a long way to go. We hope that these areas will be refined before its general release.
We soon hope to hear about developments on such important aspects as permission management and access to information, the ability to link positions to different teams, the possibility of customizing views, among others.
Without a doubt, a very promising first step, and we hope to see progress very soon 😇 As always, we will inform you of the news as it occurs!
