Assets is now available from Confluence Cloud

Atlassian has introduced a new feature that enables the integration of Jira Service Management (JSM) Assets with Confluence Cloud. This feature makes it easy to insert Assets objects directly into our Confluence tables or pages, enhancing the ability to track and analyze assets.

If you are a JSM Premium or Enterprise user, you can now easily view and manage objects within the Confluence collaborative environment.

This new feature is small, but it’s a killer. Let’s look a little more in detail at how it works 👇.

Main functionalities

📈 Improved asset management

Asset information will be centralized, thus greatly facilitating asset management. All teams will be aligned to collaborate more efficiently.

⏱️ Real-time update

As Assets data is kept up to date, all changes we make will be reflected directly in Confluence in real time. This way, all information will always be available in its latest version.

📋 Direct incorporation

Inserting our Assets objects into Confluence tables and pages is super simple. We explain step by step how to do it:

  1. Log in to Confluence, create a page and add the table.
  2. Choose and select in which row you want to insert the object. Type “/” and then “Asset”.
  1. 3. Select where the object will be inserted from (e.g. IT Employee Assets).
  2. 4. Then, the filter will be generated by AQL search and we can insert the objects into the table.

Once the objects have been inserted, we can sort the table as we wish, as well as add or remove columns.

Let’s talk about permissions

Linked to this new functionality, a new role also appears in Assets: object viewer, within the Schema configuration. This role is designed for those who need to view all object data within a schema externally, even from Confluence, but do not need full access to Jira Service Management.

It is a read-only permission for the data that teams need without additional licensing, ensuring that we maintain the integrity and security of their data while delivering value to customers across the Atlassian platform.

Conclusion

If you are wondering if this new functionality is really useful, the answer is clear: Yes. All users can quickly access Assets information directly from Confluence. Centralizing asset information in one place eliminates the need to switch between different tools. This is a huge improvement for collaboration between all members of the organization, improving efficiency, accessibility and clarity in information management.
