In process we trust – Volume 0: What is all this about?
Welcome to this series of articles focused on process excellence. And, above all, thank you for joining me and taking the time to read these reflections that I hope will be of interest to you.
You may be wondering what you will find in this space. Well, my intention is none other than to bring together all the knowledge about operational excellence in one place. Is it an ambitious goal? Of course. But, as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said: “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” And this space aims to be the plan to achieve excellence.
I think at this point I should start talking about what I understand by operational efficiency, since it will be the common thread. Through operational efficiency, we try to obtain the maximum performance with the minimum effort. That is, produce more with fewer resources, be it time, money, or personnel. Or simply make the most of the resources we have. Imagine a Formula 1 team: it’s not just about having the best car, but about optimizing every pit stop, every strategy, every drop of fuel to achieve victory.
And this is basically what this journey is about. That together we have all the possible references to work more efficiently. And yes, I said together, since I would like you to help me as much as possible. This medium does not really allow a conversation, but all your comments, suggestions, and criticisms (hopefully constructive ones) will be a fundamental part of enriching this space and turning it into a true learning community.
What you will find
In the coming weeks, you will find various types of complementary information that will help you better understand operational efficiency and apply it in your day to day:
- Definitions (mine): Because it is important that we all speak the same language and have a common understanding of key concepts.
- Trends: We will explore how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things or Big Data, are revolutionizing the way companies optimize their performance.
- Manufacturers: We will analyse the solutions offered by the main technology and service providers to improve efficiency.
- Analyst reports: We will rely on data and expert studies to understand the current state of operational efficiency and future prospects.
- Use cases: We will see concrete examples of how companies from different sectors have achieved significant results by implementing optimization strategies.
- Interesting articles: I will share with you recommended readings, relevant news and other resources that will help you stay up to date in this exciting field.
And I haven’t mentioned the word process yet, as I reserve it for Volume 1 which will arrive next week. Get ready to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of optimization and discover how well-defined processes are the key to achieving operational excellence.
See you in the next Volume!
