Atlassian Rovo VS Atlassian Intelligence

Atlassian has integrated Artificial Intelligence into its products through two main initiatives: Atlassian Rovo and Atlassian Intelligence. Although both seek to improve team efficiency and productivity, they differ in their approach and functionalities (at least for now). In this post you will learn their main characteristics and especially their differences to get the most out of them. Atlassian Rovo VS Atlassian Intelligence… Let’s go!

What is Atlassian Intelligence?

Atlassian Rovo VS Atlassian Intelligence

Atlassian Intelligence is a set of Artificial Intelligence functionalities integrated into Atlassian Cloud applications. Its main purpose is to optimize project management and planning through generative AI, automation and decision-making assistance. Some of its main functionalities include:

🤖Task automation

It allows you to automate repetitive tasks using natural language in Jira and Confluence. In other words, we can start creating Automation rules using natural language. It is also capable of recommending which Automation rules to create, based on the repetitive tasks we have performed.

👩‍💻Virtual Agent

Provides real-time assistance, answering questions and offering relevant information. This agent is available in the Customer Portals of Jira Service Management.

📄Request type suggestions

In Jira Service Management, it automatically suggests the appropriate request type. And not only that, but also related incidents, the possible priority of all of them or even the data that is missing in any request made by a client.

🔍Intelligent search systems

Facilitates obtaining information in natural language. Don’t you know Jira Query Language? Well, that’s not a problem anymore! You simply have to write the search criteria in natural language and Atlassian Intelligence will take care of transforming them into the appropriate JQL for you.

💻Use of generative AI in the editor

Helps in writing and editing content in Confluence. But also to answer and/or add comments on any Jira task. Using language that is more understandable to the whole team, translating the content or adding more context if necessary.

📖Automatic summaries

Generates automatic summaries of documents and pages in Confluence. Now, getting information from a Confluence page or a Jira work item (Issue) is really fast: you just have to ask Atlassian Intelligence to do it for you.

⛏️AI Work Breakdown

Breaks down initiatives into more manageable tasks. Yes, yes, we can generate the Sub-tasks automatically and according to the context of the work item (Issue).

💡Development Insights

Get extra information from your cards on Kanban and Scrum boards. And yes, we can even get some metrics and suggestions: In the example we can see “Median Cycle Time”. In the future, Atlassian has a few surprises prepared for us in these Insights panels!

Atlassian Rovo VS Atlassian Intelligence

There are many more Atlassian Intelligence functionalities already available in our Atlassian Cloud instances, but we wanted to highlight the main and most used ones. As you can see, they are all just one click away from being activated. You just have to click on the Atlassian Intelligence logo and enjoy everything it has prepared for us. Keep in mind that it reaches all corners of the Atlassian Cloud platform.

But, what happens outside the Atlassian platform? Keep reading, because here comes Rovo 🤖

What is Atlassian Rovo?

Atlassian Rovo is an AI-powered knowledge discovery system. It integrates with various data sources, providing comprehensive search results and intelligent AI agents, all while prioritizing security and privacy. Designed to transform the way we work, Rovo gives us the tools we need to act as effectively as possible on knowledge and objectives, driven by hyper-specialized agents.

Rovo is part of the Atlassian Intelligence proposal and its fundamental value is that it feeds on all the information of our team, their knowledge and their way of proceeding, to give us the best possible results and recommendations that really adapt to our reality. It not only accelerates individual productivity, but also team and organizational productivity.

Rovo really is the director of our orchestra. It has become the neural center of Artificial Intelligence within the Atlassian Cloud platform.

Its 3 main applications right now are:

🔍Rovo Search

Allows you to search between any SaaS tool of your company. This greatly facilitates the connection of data between any ecosystem. Be careful, because now the connection with your Confluence Data Center is already available, and soon it will also be with your Jira Data Center. We already have 50 connectors for Rovo available. Once a search is performed, Rovo generates intelligent and above all understandable responses for the team.

💬Rovo Chat

Always accessible a chat to talk to Rovo directly and ask everything we want. It gives us personalized answers according to our profile and expert advice. Not only from your Jira or Confluence, also from the browser itself or your Google Docs document. The best thing is that now the responses even show results as visualizations of graphs or tables. It has a memory of up to 90 days, so your recent and not so recent searches will also help to have better results.

🎛️Rovo Studio

new centralized space from where we can create agents, automation rules, assets and much more. All this, in the simplest way possible without having to use code.

🤖Rovo Agents

And the best part comes precisely with the Rovo agents:

The catalog of agents created by Atlassian already reaches more than 30. But also, we can create as many as we want: to help solve complex problems and handle repetitive tasks, which increases efficiency and team collaboration: automation of repetitive tasks, workflows, creation of specialized AIs…

Among the most demanded, the Rovo Dev Agents are already available in beta to use: it helps developers to generate code, to create the plan, to review pull requests, to make massive changes or even to review the already generated code.

Atlassian Rovo VS Atlassian Intelligence

As you can see, the line is thin between where Atlassian Intelligence reaches and where Atlassian Rovo begins. But let’s summarize the main differences:

  • Approach: Atlassian Intelligence focuses on improving internal project management through functionalities such as task breakdown and intelligent panels. Rovo, on the other hand, is oriented to the integration and analysis of data from multiple sources to offer a holistic vision and facilitate decision making.
  • Functionalities: While Atlassian Intelligence offers specific tools for planning and documentation within Atlassian platforms, Rovo acts as a virtual assistant that helps teams manage data and optimize workflows through the integration of various applications.
  • Implementation: Atlassian Intelligence is integrated directly into products like Jira and Confluence, offering specific improvements in project management. Rovo, for its part, in addition to integrating with Atlassian applications, functions as a virtual agent that interacts with multiple systems, providing a broader experience of assistance and analysis.

Both Atlassian Rovo and Atlassian Intelligence seek to improve team productivity through AI, but each has a different approach. Depending on the needs of each team, you can choose one or the other, or even combine them to make the most of their capabilities. 🚀

And if you don’t know where to start, let us know, we have everything ready to be able to lend you a hand with the creation of Rovo agents from now on 😇
