Shared Estimations evolves: New Features, better experience
Good estimations save time, reduce risk, and boost team efficiency. At TecnoFor by SNGULAR, we know this well. That’s why we’ve put a lot of work into a major quality upgrade of one of our most popular Jira apps: Shared Estimations.
This tool, designed to support collaborative estimations, is evolving into a more powerful, agile, and intuitive version. Want to know what this update includes? Let us walk you through it.
Important: These updates are currently available only for the Data Center version. The Cloud version will follow in the coming months.
What is Shared Estimations?
If you’re not a user yet but you’re curious, here’s a quick summary: Shared Estimations is an app that enables teams to collaboratively estimate the time or effort required to complete a task, directly within Jira and with full team alignment.
It works through voting sessions using estimation dynamics based on Story Points and offers different evaluation methods (like Fibonacci, T-shirt Size, or Fist to Five) to adapt to any team or project. It helps decision-making, improves communication, and reduces risks before development begins.
What’s New in This Version?
The new version of Shared Estimations has been thoroughly redesigned to enhance both performance and user experience. Here are the key updates:
Seamless Jira Integration: The app now integrates perfectly with Jira’s “Story Points” field, ensuring finalized estimations are directly reflected in your issues.
UI Redesign: The most noticeable change is the completely new user interface. We recommend getting familiar with the new layout and workflows.
Performance Improvements: Under-the-hood optimizations result in faster loading and smoother interaction.
New Features: Introduction of dynamic methods (Fist to Five and Wisdom of the Crowd), anonymous methods (Wisdom of the Crowd), different chart types for results, and improved voting interaction.
- The Fist to Five method has been updated and is incompatible with previous estimations. Existing active sessions will be removed during the upgrade due to this incompatibility. All the saved estimations will be preserved.
- New dynamic methods (Fist to Five requiring a proposed value and Wisdom of the Crowd with custom options) have been introduced.
- The Wisdom of the Crowd method offers anonymous voting.
- A method has been removed: Planning Cards, due to its high similarity with the Fibonacci method. All the saved estimations will be preserved.
Technology Upgrade: The app has been rebuilt using modern technologies.
Streamlined Estimations: Estimation methods have been restructured into a clearer, more prioritized flow.
Themed Consistency: Shared Estimations now adapts perfectly to your Jira theme, providing a native and consistent user experience. Full compatibility with Jira’s dark mode (v10+) is also included.
