Unleashing the Power of AI

Just a little over a month ago, during Atlassian’s premier event, “Team 23,” held in Las Vegas from April 18th to 20th, several significant announcements were made. Among them was the introduction of Artificial Intelligence into the cloud products of the Atlassian suite.

In today’s world, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is driving a seismic transformation that is changing the way we work. AI has the potential to take teamwork to the next level, dramatically accelerating what teams can achieve.

What is it and how can it help us?

Atlassian presents it as the “virtual team companion“, deeply understanding how to collaborate to accelerate work. Harnessing AI through internal models and collaboration with OpenAI, Atlassian Intelligence is integrated into the Atlassian platform, the common technological foundation across all their cloud products.

With over 20 years of data reflecting how millions of software, IT, and business teams plan, track, and deliver work, Atlassian Intelligence possesses a unique understanding of teamwork.

Atlassian Intelligence

Functioning and main features

Let’s take a look at how it operates and how it can unlock more potential from your team:

Accelerating Work:

Atlassian Intelligence utilizes generative AI technology from OpenAI to create, summarize, and extract information from content, enabling your team to expedite their work. With Atlassian Intelligence, you can:

Quickly summarize decisions and action items from meeting minutes.

Instant Help:

Atlassian Intelligence provides an always-on virtual teammate in Jira Service Management that delivers instant help when teams need it most.

This virtual agent automates support interactions, directly from Slack and Microsoft Teams. Employees can get help without having to leave their collaboration tools and it deflects repetitive requests on behalf of support teams, allowing them to focus on more important work.

This virtual agent can for example resolve help requests instantly based on their understanding of knowledge base articles. If necessary, it can also ask follow-up questions to take the necessary actions.

Generate Summaries:

Summarize activity in help requests to keep assigned agents up to date.

Create thoughtful responses:

Assist in creating reflective responses to reassure customers during stressful situations.

Learning on the Go:

As your organization grows, so does the institutional knowledge and the terms used to describe projects, acronyms, and internal systems. Building a shared understanding of what all these things mean and who knows about them is incredibly challenging.

Atlassian Intelligence provides shared context with an on-demand, company-specific dictionary for your organization, teams, and work. You can highlight a term and ask Atlassian Intelligence to explain it with the definition, information source, internal subject matter experts, and how it connects to related work based on the teamwork graph.

Answer Anything:

Atlassian Intelligence can comprehend questions in natural language, helping you:

Answer questions about institutional knowledge and company policies in Confluence, such as “How much can I spend on setting up my home office?” and “How do I set up my development environment?”

JQL:

You can use it to unlock any complex query using the Jira Query Language (JQL) so that no search in Jira Cloud will be impossible for you.

Atlassian Analytics:

Generate insights using data from multiple sources in Atlassian Analytics, a hub for analyzing and visualizing data across Atlassian products and connected third-party tools, without needing to know how to write SQL.

Idiomas disponibles

Atlassian Intelligence can be configured in any of the languages of the Atlassian Cloud suite. So depending on the language in which you have configured the instance or the user, it will understand your requests without any problem.

Benefits

This new Atlassian feature uses rich text and can understand the context of enterprise-wide data. It works across all cloud products and can even create actions and assign them directly to team members.

While Atlassian has long relied on machine learning and big language models, it now combines them with real data to get the most out of its work.

Cost

Atlassian Intelligence offers a combination of free and paid features. Early access customers selected from the waiting list can use all features for free until the product is generally available. The Jira Service Management virtual agent is included at no additional cost in Premium and Enterprise plans, subject to terms of use.

How to Get It?

To get early access to Atlassian Intelligence, you must sign up for the waiting list. However, so far there is no concrete date when the feature will be unlocked. But we’ll keep you posted. So, it pays to be quick!

Waiting list

Thank you very much for reaching the end of the article.

I hope it helps you learn more about the world of Atlassian and everything new that is coming related to AI.
